The Wednesday 18 "Classic" Match Play Event |
The Classic is a team competition, four-ball match play. This is a match in which two play their better ball (with handicaps) against the better ball of the other two players. This event requires an additional $20 per team entrance
fee payable in the golf shop. |

2008 Classic Event Notes: |

The
Wednesday classic event will be conducted on somewhat the same format as
an USGA amateur event. The
first round on May 28th will be a stroke play 2 man net best ball
qualifying event. Both
players play their own ball on each hole. The lowest net score of the 2
players is recorded as the team score for each hole.
For the qualifying the handicap allowance will be 90% of course
Handicap per USGA Handicap System Sec 9-4 (b) (ii). Course
Handicaps of the members of a side may not differ by more than eight
strokes. If a difference of
more than eight strokes cannot be avoided then an additional 10%
reduction will be applied to the course handicaps of the members of the
side with a course handicap difference exceeding eight strokes.

This only applies to the first round stroke play qualifying. For
Example: The low 16 teams
will advance to match play. (Ties
for the last place will be settled by scorecard playoff). See Ties
Below. The low 16
teams will each receive $20 per team. How
to settle Ties stroke play qualifying:
USGA Handicap sec 9-5 (b) Match the last nine holes. If the players have the same score for the last nine holes, then use the last six holes, if still tied use the last three holes. If there is still no winner, then the last hole is used. Additional
Rounds Match Play: The low 16 teams for
match play will use handicap allowance per USGA Handicap systems Sec 9-4
(a) (iii) as follows: “Reduce
the course handicaps of all four players by the course handicap of the
player with the lowest handicap, who shall then play from scratch. Allow
each of the other three players 100% of the difference. Example:
Players A,B,C,D have a course handicap of 5,10,15,20 respectively.
Player plays at scratch, B receives 5 strokes, C receives 10
strokes and D receives 15 strokes.
