2020 Wednesday 9-Hole League

Wednesday 9-Hole General League Information

Flights for events will be assigned as follows:
Individual Events will have approximately 15 players per flight determined by USGA hdcp index. Team Events including 2 man team events will have approximately 15 teams per flight determined by the combined USGA handicap of the team members.  Progressive Skins will have 2 flights – net skins and gross skins. Quota Points may or may not be flighted at the discretion of the league chairs.  Flight size may vary slightly due to handicap ties or an irregular number of players in a flight.

Money Payouts for Regular events as follows:
The league chair has determined the amount of money each event will pay out.  All regular event payouts will be in gift certificate money (chits) in the golf shop.  The total payout for the event will be split evenly over each flight.  Within the flights of most events, the payout will be 50% for first, 30% for second and 20% for third.  Exceptions are listed below.
Quota Points: Chit payouts will award the top 3 players in each flight over their quota from a bonus pool. The bonus pool will be 35% of the full event payout. The bonus will be awarded 50%, 30%, 20% to the top 3.  All players (including bonus winners) will split the remaining money evenly.
Match Play:  Chits will be awarded to players finishing 1st, 2nd and Consolation 1st.  Access the bracket from the league schedule page on this web site for details.

Fox Cup Championship (FCC) Qualification points will be awarded for top 3 finishes within flights.  For individual events, 25 for first, 15 for second, 10 for third.  For 2 man events 50 points for first 30 points for second, 20 points for third.  For 4 man events 100 for first, 60 for second, 40 for third.  Players in team events will split the points given for the place won. Exceptions to this are shown below.
Quota Points Event: 5 FCC points will be awarded to players equaling or exceeding their quota.  The top 3 players scoring the most over their quota in the order 1st to 3th will receive the following bonus points: 20,13,10
Match Play:  FCC points will be awarded to the winners in each round.  Access the bracket from the league schedule page on this web site for details.
Progressive and Giants skins games:  If they are an official event, FCC points will be awarded based on low net scores within flights and NOT on the number or amount of skins won.

Calculating your 9-Hole handicap
The USGA method for calculating a course handicap for a 9 hole event – and the method we use – is as follows:  Take your handicap index and multiply by the slope for the 9-hole course you are playing (see those slopes listed below).  Divide that number by 113 and divide that result by 2.  Round the result up if .5 or higher, round down if under .5.    If you’re handicap index is a 6.0 and you are playing the Front 9 from the white tees the calculation would be 6.0 x 125 = 750.  Divide by 113 = 6.6371.  Divide by 2 = 3.318.  So your handicap for the event would by 3.

Match Play Event Description

EVENT DESCRIPTION
An individual match play tournament conducted throughout the season. The size of the bracket (number of players) will be determined by League Chairmen.

EVENT ENTRY FEES
This event requires an additional entry fee payable in the golf shop.

HANDICAP ALLOWANCES
Handicap allowance FOR THE MATCHES is calculated based on the USGA Handicap systems recommendation: “The higher-handicapped player receives the full difference in course handicap between the two players; the lower-handicapped player plays from scratch.”

HOW TO CONDUCT THE EVENT
Match play is conducted hole by hole. The player having the lowest net score on a hole wins that hole. The player winning the most holes during the round wins the match. The net score for a hole is determined by subtracting any strokes that the player receives (based on handicap) from the players actual score.

SETTLING TIES
The method to settle ties in stroke play seeding is based on USGA Handicap recommendation: Match the last nine holes. If the players have the same score for the last nine holes, then use the last six holes, if still tied use the last three holes. If there is still no winner, then the last hole is used.

The method to settle ties in matches is to play extra holes at sudden death. The first player to win a hole is the match winner. Handicaps are applied as if an entire round were being played. If extra holes cannot be played, then ask someone from the pro shop to administer a chip-off on the practice green.

DATES OF COMPETITION
Players in matches will be assigned a tee time on the designated match play dates. If a player cannot play the match on that date, he must notify the golf shop or his opponent BEFORE the scheduled day.  If a player fails to show at the designated date and time and fails to give notification, he will automatically forfeit the match.  If the match is not played on the designated date, it may be rescheduled but the deadline for that reschedule is 8 days before the next designated match play date. If the match has not been completed by the deadline date, the match will take place on the deadline date.  If only one player shows up for that match, he will be declared the winner.  If neither player shows up, both will forfeit.

The winning player is responsible for marking the bracket on the bulletin board and sending an email to mensclub@foxhollowgolf.net with the result.
