2022 Fox Hollow Junior Golf

Junior Golfers Unite!

Get ready for a new and improved Junior Golf Program at Fox Hollow Golf Club for 2021 and beyond.  We’ve designed a system that will allow junior golfers to seamlessly transition from one skill level to the next as they improve their golf game and work toward Green Master status.  The overriding goal for the program is to provide junior golfers with the abilities and the confidence to know golf will be a part of their lives for decades to come.
These exciting changes will also make it easier for parents to know which junior program your golfer is ready for next.  And the new system will give junior golfers clear guidelines on what they are doing well, and what they need to work on to pass to the next skill level.
And in case you’re worried about skills tests ruining the fun of summer golf programs, don’t be.  We’ll be using the same fun lessons and games and on-course play to develop the skills necessary to advance.  Golf is fun and rewarding because the game is challenging.  The progressive learning and improvement that we’ve designed into our system at Fox Hollow will make golf more fun as junior golfers move through the levels.
As junior golfers enter a Level 1 program, they’ll receive a cap clip with a white ball marker.  The color of the ball marker will match the skill level of the program.  Upon graduating from Level 1, each golfer will receive an orange ball marker, signifying Level 2.  As new skills are practiced and mastered, golfers will rise through the program’s levels until reaching Green Master status.  And if you’re coming to Fox Hollow’s junior programs with previous golf experience and are above the beginner levels, your instructor will identify an appropriate starting level and you will progress from there.
PGA Professionals and experienced Fox Hollow golf instructors will be monitoring skill levels for each golfer throughout every program.
Level 2 Graduation Skills
Putting–Make 1 putt out of 5 from 5′. Lag 2 putts out of 5 inside 2 feet from 15′.
Chipping/Pitching–Downward strike, ball airborne and staying on the green.
Bunkers–Out of a greenside bunker in one shot 1 out of 5 tries.
Irons–Downward strike, ball airborne and flying toward target.
Drivers–Ball airborne and flying toward target.
Rules–How many clubs? Counting strokes. Play the ball where it lies…
Etiquette–Replace divots, repair ball marks, rake bunkers…
Play–Score a 3 from 25 yards (2 tries), Score a 4 from 50 yards (2 tries).
At Fox Hollow we teach the physical skills necessary to play better golf.  But we also focus on developing the mental skills that golf requires.  Most importantly we teach a growth mindset that says skilled golfers are not born, they are made through hard work and smart practice.  Not being able to hit a good bunker shot doesn’t mean you’re a bad golfer or a bad bunker player.  It means you haven’t learned the necessary skills and practiced them until you feel confident in hitting that shot.
The end goal of any instructional sports program is to give the participants a confidence to go forward to play and enjoy the sport for years to come.  Golf is the rare sport that allows for lifelong participation.  Developing the skills at a young age that are necessary to feel confident on the golf course is something that can’t be replaced in later life.
