Wednesday 9-Hole League
League Information
Wednesday 9-Hole General League Information
Flights for events will be assigned as follows:
Individual Events will have approximately 15 players per flight determined by USGA hdcp index. Team Events including 2 man team events will have approximately 15 teams per flight determined by the combined USGA handicap of the team members. Progressive Skins will have 2 flights – net skins and gross skins. Quota Points will not be flighted. Flight size may vary slightly due to handicap ties or an irregular number of players in a flight.
Money Payouts for Regular events as follows:
The league chair has determined the amount of money each event will pay out. All regular event payouts will be in gift certificate money (chits) in the golf shop. The total payout for the event will be split evenly over each flight. Within the flights of most events, the payout will be 50% for first, 30% for second and 20% for third. Exceptions are listed below.
Quota Points: Chit payouts will award the top 3 players over their quota from a bonus pool. The bonus pool will be 35% of the full event payout. The bonus will be awarded 50%, 30%, 20% to the top 3. All players (including bonus winners) will split the remaining money evenly.
Match Play: Chits will be awarded to players finishing 1st, 2nd and Consolation 1st. Access the bracket from the league schedule page on this web site for details.
Fox Cup Championship (FCC) Qualification points will be awarded for top 3 finishes within flights. For individual events, 25 for first, 15 for second, 10 for third. For 2 man events 50 points for first 30 points for second, 20 points for third. For 4 man events 100 for first, 60 for second, 40 for third. Players in team events will split the points given for the place won. Exceptions to this are shown below.
Quota Points Event: 5 FCC points will be awarded to players equaling or exceeding their quota. The top 5 players scoring the most over their quota in the order 1st to 5th will receive the following bonus points: 25,20,15,10 5.
Match Play: FCC points will be awarded to the winners in each round. Access the bracket from the league schedule page on this web site for details.
Progressive and Giants skins games: If they are an official event, FCC points will be awarded based on low net scores within flights and NOT on the number or amount of skins won.
Calculating your 9-Hole handicap
The USGA method for calculating a course handicap for a 9 hole event – and the method we use – is as follows: Take your handicap index and multiply by the slope for the 9-hole course you are playing (see those slopes listed below). Divide that number by 113 and divide that result by 2. Round the result up if .5 or higher, round down if under .5. If you’re handicap index is a 6.0 and you are playing the Front 9 from the white tees the calculation would be 6.0 x 125 = 750. Divide by 113 = 6.6371. Divide by 2 = 3.318. So your handicap for the event would by 3.

The net score for a hole is determined by subtracting any strokes that the player receives (based on handicap allowance) from the players actual score. NOTE: There will be no blind draw for a player without a partner but we may pair you with a another player who does not have a partner.
How do I know what holes I get strokes on?
Handicap allowance is calculated by taking 90% of of the course handicap. If team members have a USGA handicap difference of more than eight strokes, then 80% of course handicaps are to be used. USGA handicap manual Sec 9-4(b)(ii).
At a minimum, score cards should contain:
- All Players Full names
- All Players Local Numbers (please look this up to double check it)
- Individual gross hole scores for all players for the entire round*
* If one member of the 2-man team picks up before completing the hole because their partner has a better score, the player who picked up must record a reasonable estimate of the score they would have recorded had they completed the hole. See USGA handicap manual section 4-1.

Birdie | 2 Pts |
Par | 0 Pts |
Bogey | -1 Pt |

5/31 Match Play Round 1
All players who sign up are guaranteed 2 matches. Winners of the first match will go to the right side of the bracket and continue to compete to be flight champion. For the match, the higher handicap player will receive the number of strokes that is the difference between the 2 players’ course handicaps. Your 9-hole handicaps for your appropriate tee (white or blue) will be located at the pro-shop desk when you check-in and also with the starter before you tee off. Be sure and use this most recent and appropriate 9-hole handicap for you match.
Example: If Player A is a 6 handicap (for 9 holes) and Player B is a 4 handicap (for 9 holes), then Player A would receive 2 strokes from Player B on the two most difficult holes (using the scorecard rating) for their match.
The match is won by the player who is leading by a number of holes greater than the number of holes remaining to be played.
If the match if tied after 9 holes, then the two players can decide whether or not to extend their match by playing sudden death extra holes (with handicaps) or a chip-off to be officiated by the pro-shop
The winning player should please enter the result on the bulletin board after play and turn in their scorecard to the pro-shop.

6/24 Combination Tournament -27 Holes
Combination Tournament
Each 9 hole course is played using a different format as follows. Event Chair will determine which holes for each format:Scramble: Both players hit a tee shot, pick the best one and both players hit the next shot from that point. Repeat until the ball is in the hole. Do not tap in putts before your partner has played, once the ball is in the hole, that is the score for the team. Both balls may be placed within one club length of the original spot through the green and within 6 inches when on the green, no nearer the hole and it cannot be moved out of a bunker or a hazard. Both shots must be played from the same cut of grass where the original ball lay. Record the team gross score for each hole. There are no restrictions on the number of shots used by each player.Best Ball: 2 Man net best ball. Handicap allowance using 90% of course handicap (USGA handicap System Sec 9.4). Both players play the ball as it lies. Both players’ gross scores should be recorded on the scorecard.Alternate Shot (traditional): Prior to the start of this nine, each team must chose who will hit the tee shot on the even holes and who will hit the tee shot on the odd holes (yes, one player will hit an extra tee shot – include that in your strategy); play alternately after the tee shot. The ball used must also be used to hole out. No changing balls on the green. Always play the ball as it lies – no “preferred lies”, no “winter rules”. Record the team gross scores on the scorecard.Handicap Calculation: Scramble – the handicap is 40% of lower handicap players 9-hole handicap + 10% of higher handicap players 9-hole handicap. Take percentages, then add them together, then round up if result has a .5 or higher. Round down if .4 or lower. Best Ball – each player gets his strokes where they lie based on their 9-hole handicap for that nine (see calculation for 9 hole handicap). Alternate Shot – the average of each players 9-hole handicap. See Wed 9 Information Page for the 9-hole handicap calculation.PACE OF PLAY – Since we are playing 27 holes it is imperative that you keep pace with the group ahead of you.The day will be long enough; we do not need slow play. Consider this your first warning. Any group more than one hole behind will be penalized.PAYOFF
Payoff’s for each flight on each nine hole score as well as the 27 hole score. Approximately 6- 9 teams per flight, depending on total participation, (based on team handicap index).
